BBBMAX2

So apparently it's taken me almost seven weeks to actually write about this year's birthday party.  I really don't have a ton to say about it that hasn't been said over the course of the last seven years that I've been having this party.  As time has gone on, I seem to see fewer of these people on any regular basis.  And I think that many of them don't see all that much of each other either.  It's definitely good to get the gang together.

This post is mostly just to record a few facts and stats for my own memory...

I find I'm sticking more to people I already know in DDR (and related) circles.  I haven't been actively going out to meet people the way I used to in years passed save for a few special outings and major events like the DDR-A-Thon.  As a result, most of the faces were the same from the past 2-3 years.  There were only a handful of first-timers.  I count 32 in the traditional group photo.  I can think of about three others that were there that didn't make the group shot.  That makes it roughly comparable in size to last year's party.

This year there were twice as many games in the basement.  Last year's DDR, PIU, and DMX were joined by PPP, Daytona, and IIDX.  That tended to make things a little more crowded as none of my games are particularly "space efficient."

This was the first party since the very first to occur on my actual birthday.

Several people were delayed by weather conditions.  It certainly wasn't as serious as year 3, but there were a good number of people who didn't arrive until 3-4 hours after the traditional 5pm start.  Although many more people seemed to stay a lot later also.  The group photo is traditionally taken as the first people announce that they're leaving.  That didn't happen until almost 11pm.

musashi13 is now the only person that has been to every party as thenarus was unable to attend due to car trouble.

We're not breaking size records anymore (which is a very good thing), but we obliterated the length record again this year.  The last people left shortly before 7am.  The traditional clock photo was snapped at 6:38.  That's over two hours later than last year's.

Well, that's about it.  It was great to get to see everyone.  Thanks to everyone who came.  Sorry to those who couldn't make it.  I hope it doesn't take a whole year before I see you all again.
