pop'n party

secef recently purchased a Ransai pop'n music controller. It is appropriately colored green--the color of my envy. ^_~

thenarus suggested that we needed to have a little pop'n get-together. This past Friday, it finally happened...although it ended up being more medium sized than little.

Most of us got to take a crack at pop'n music. 'Crack' is an accurate description...that game is soooo addictive! We also played a bunch of Karaoke Revolution vol. 2. Some folks got in some DDR and KeyboardMania also made a brief appearance.

We didn't get a chance to play IIDX before secef and Jay had to head back to Bloomington. They had mentioned that they wanted to. I guess that means we'll just have to do this all again sometime soon! ^_^

orange redux

As planned, I had my hair redyed on Saturday morning. By then, it had faded substantially. The orange wasn't nearly as vivid and the bleach blonde was showing through in quite a few spots.

Gina (my hairdresser) applied the dye and this time had me sit under the dryer for what seemed like forever. It was probably around half an hour. Last Tuesday was the first time she had used this brand of dye, so this was somewhat of an experiment for her. The directions didn't say to set the color with heat, but she figured she'd give it a go on Saturday since it didn't seem to last too well without it.

After sweating under the dryer she rinsed my hair out and we discovered the color was much, much brighter than when we had done it on Tuesday. Instead of construction cone orange, it was now quite red--essentially the same color that it looked in the bottle (much like paint, the color in the bottle/can isn't always what it looks like after it is applied and dried).

You can see what it looks like in the pictures above. It picks up light really well. In that first picture you can see how it almost glows in sunlight. The second picture is a little more shaded. The color is somewhat subdued, but still very bright.

At this point (Tuesday), the color is still pretty good. It's not quite as intense, but still very bright. I think the dryer definitely helped set the color. It's still got a lot of red in it, but the orange is starting to show through.

She has a bunch of other fun and bright colors that we can try in the future. I usually do color every eight weeks, but it may be a little longer than that before I do my next one. A friend of mine from high school asked me to be the best man in his wedding in October. I think I'll probably stick to a more natural color for that event. ^_^

yakety yak

I just checked and have realized that I am over my minutes for this month on my cell phone...blah.

My new month starts Saturday, so it won't be a huge problem. But if you call and I don't answer...that's why. Leave me a message and I'll give you a call back from a phone that *won't* charge me 40 cents a minute (the overage rate).

Although on a humorous sidenote, my current minute usage for this month (as of right now) is 573. If you get that, you are a nerd...but you are also likely chuckling right now as well.

What Type of Social Entity are You?
brought to you by Quizilla

I don't usually bother with too many MEMEs. Although this one caught my attention since it kind of applied to a trend that's been happening in my life in the past few weeks. I actually completed this little quiz a week ago (and I know it made the rounds a couple weeks ago), but I've just been sitting on it and waiting for an opportunity to compose this entry to go along with the results. Since it seems like today is my day for multiple updates, here it is (finally)...

Over the past three weeks or so I've found myself spending a lot more time getting together with friends. What's been interesting to me is the mix of friends I've been seeing. I've reconnected with some older ones, made some new ones, and seen a decent mix of some of the ones I've seen more regularly this year.

The only downside is that all this socialization has had a somewhat significant impact on other activities, like sleep. I've had a couple of zombified days as a result. Unfortunately, there's only so many hours in the day.

This is also one reason entries in my LJ have been less frequent lately. I'm getting to update a lot today because I'm running a bunch of server software installations that have required waiting and/or rebooting, so I figured I'd use the downtime this way.

All-in-all I seem to be managing ok and I really appreciate my friends and the time I get to spend with them. It's been time well spent and I've enjoyed seeing everyone very much.
